Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 7 and 8, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from February 7th to 8th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,986 interventions (an average of one intervention every 28 seconds), including 1,818 medical evacuations and 359 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 166 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 6 people at the scene and injuries to 166 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Béchar, where 2 people died when a car veered off the road and overturned on National Route 6, in the municipality and district of Taghit.
Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to 7 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. These incidents occurred in the provinces of Tipaza (4 people), Constantine (2 people), and Annaba (1 person). The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported to local health centers.
For the record, Civil Protection units in the Wilaya of In Guezzam intervened to extinguish a fire that broke out in a restaurant in the 600-unit housing complex, In Guezzam municipality and district. Three people sustained burns of varying degrees. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital. Our services’ intervention enabled us to extinguish the fire and prevent its spread to neighboring areas.
Furthermore, Civil Protection units in the Wilaya of Algiers intervened following the explosion of a butane gas cylinder in a fifth-floor apartment of a five-story building (ground floor + five floors) located on Mohamed Ben Zadi Street, Hussein Dey municipality and district. No casualties were reported.
