Between February 5th and 7th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 6,659 interventions, averaging one intervention every 26 seconds. These included 4,368 medical evacuations and 1,069 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, weather-related incidents, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 312 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 8 fatalities at the scene and 362 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Algiers province, where two women died when their car veered off the road and plunged into the sea on Rue Emir Khaled in the municipality of Bologhine, Bab El Oued district.

Civil Protection services also provided first aid to 23 people suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces. These victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local health centers.

For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish five urban and other fires in the following provinces: Algiers (two fires, resulting in five people suffering from respiratory distress), Constantine (two fires, resulting in seven people suffering from respiratory distress), and Chlef (one fire, resulting in 18 people suffering from respiratory distress). The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals. Our interventions enabled us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the Civil Protection interventions related to the severe weather conditions during the same period, which affected the provinces of Chlef, Tissemsilt, and Tipaza, Civil Protection personnel carried out three separate operations involving collapsed walls and trees, as well as soil erosion, without any reported casualties.
