Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 4 and 5, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from February 4th to 5th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,583 interventions (an average of one intervention every 24 seconds), including 2,531 medical evacuations and 697 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, weather-related incidents, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 165 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 3 people at the scene and injuries to 175 others, ranging in severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in El Oued province: 1 death and 1 injury, following a collision between two vehicles on the road connecting the villages of Harouila and Boukefah, in the municipality and district of Mihounsa.

Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 19 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in the provinces of Algiers (5 people), Saïda (5 people), Bouira (3 people), Tlemcen (2 people), Blida (2 people), Tébessa (1 person), and Chlef (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported in stable condition to local healthcare facilities.

For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish six urban and other fires in the following provinces: Algiers (two fires, resulting in four people suffering from shortness of breath); Tebessa (one fire, resulting in two people suffering first and third-degree burns); Bouira (one fire, resulting in three people suffering second-degree burns); El Tarf (one fire, resulting in one person suffering burns); and Bejaia (one fire, with no fatalities). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local hospitals. Our intervention enabled us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the results of the Civil Protection interventions related to the weather fluctuations during the last 24 hours, which affected the provinces of Relizane, Ain Temouchent, Tlemcen, Chlef, Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Ain Defla, Medea, Algiers, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, several operations were carried out to pump out rainwater that had seeped into homes, neighborhoods and also the main roads in the provinces of Chlef, Algiers, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Ain Defla and Tissemsilt. Regarding the rescue operations of people in dangerous situations, the Civil Protection services of the province of Chlef evacuated 05 families who were trapped by the waters of the Serbrab River in the municipality of Beni Rached, and provided assistance to several students of the Kasmi Abdelkader Ali Primary School after rainwater accumulated at the entrance of the educational institution. As for the province of Tissemsilt, a car, a truck and a bus were removed in the municipalities of Ammari and El Ayoun without any casualties, as well as providing assistance to students after they crossed a bridge in the municipality of Larjam, in addition to removing 06 families who were trapped as a result of the rise of the Sidi Abdoun water barrier in the municipality of Thénia El Had. In addition, in the province of Medea, assistance was provided to 10 students while they were crossing the bridge leading to the school due to the high water level of the Boukmouri valley in the municipality of Aziz. As for the province of Relizane, unfortunately, the death of an 8-year-old child was recorded. He was found on the edge of the Rouaihia valley in the municipality of Beni Zentis, Sidi M’hamed Ben Ali district. The victim was transferred to the local hospital. On the other hand, the Civil Protection elements carried out 10 different operations involving the collapse of walls, electricity poles, trees and stones, which resulted in the injury of 1 person in the province of Ain Temouchent as a result of aluminum sheets falling at the passenger transport station in Yekref in the municipality of Ain Temouchent due to the wind.
