Civil Protection Units intervention results between February 8 and 9, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from February 8th to 9th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,431 interventions (an average of one intervention every 25 seconds), including 2,631 medical evacuations and 536 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 137 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 5 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 166 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to seven people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. Five of these cases occurred in Naâma province and two in Médéa province. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local health centers.

Civil Protection units also responded to four separate urban fires in the provinces of El Tarf, Illizi, Oum El Bouaghi, and Tiaret. These fires resulted in one person sustaining second-degree burns. The fire broke out in a greenhouse used as a poultry farm in the area known as “Mchta Bouslaâ,” in the municipality and district of Aïn Kercha. The victim received treatment at the scene and was then transferred to the local hospital. Our services successfully extinguished these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Likewise, the Civil Protection services of the state of Biskra intervened, following the explosion of a fuel tanker (empty) during a maintenance operation, in the municipality and district of Biskra. The accident resulted in the death of two (02) people and the injury of one other with multiple wounds, who was taken care of at the scene of the accident and transferred to the local hospital. Also, the two deceased victims were transferred to the morgue of the same hospital.
