Civil Protection Units intervention results between January 14 and 15, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)
During the period from January 14 to 15, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,252 interventions (an average of one intervention every 26 seconds), including 2,531 medical evacuations and 405 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 152 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of two people at the scene and injuries to 182 others of varying severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Adrar province, where one person died and three others sustained various injuries when a car overturned on the new road connecting the municipalities of Aouf and Adrar, the municipality and district of Adrar.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 24 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes in the following provinces: Relizane (6 people), Batna (5 people), Ain Temouchent (4 people), Souk Ahras (4 people), Naama (2 people), Mila (1 person), Algiers (1 person), and Bordj Bou Arreridj (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and transferred in stable condition to local hospitals. Meanwhile, one death was recorded in the province of Tebessa, a 66-year-old man, due to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from a heater in his home in the 88-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Bir El Ater. The victim’s body was transferred to the local hospital.
For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers, Blida, and Tebessa. These fires resulted in one person suffering from shortness of breath in Blida province, following a fire that broke out in a two-story building (ground floor + first floor) located on “Rue des Frères Takarli Abdelrazak,” in the municipality and district of Blida. The injured person received first aid at the scene and was then transported to the local hospital. Our emergency services were able to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
In addition, Civil Protection services in Bouira province intervened following a butane gas leak and subsequent explosion in a garage of a residence located in the “Saidi Mbarki” neighborhood, in the municipality and district of Sour El Ghozlane. This incident resulted in one person sustaining injuries. The victim received first aid at the scene and was then transferred to Sour El Ghozlane Hospital.
