Results of intervention by Civil Protection units between January 15 and 17, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)

 

   During the period from January 15 to 17, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 6,319 interventions, averaging one intervention every 27 seconds. These included 4,308 medical evacuations and 836 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 338 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 14 deaths at the scene and 397 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the province of Relizane, with two deaths and one injury, resulting from two traffic accidents.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 48 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals. Meanwhile, a 71-year-old woman died in Tiaret province after being poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO) from a cooking stove in her home in the municipality and district of Mahdia. Her body was taken to the morgue at the local hospital. Additionally, Civil Protection services in Oran province intervened to transport the bodies of two people who died from gas poisoning in a home in the El Bahia neighborhood of Ain El Turk municipality and district. Their bodies were also taken to the morgue at the local hospital.
Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish four separate urban fires in the provinces of Tipaza, Blida, Oran, and Batna. These fires resulted in one death in Oran, following a blaze in a house in a 10-story building (ground floor + 10 floors) located on Mostaganem Street in the municipality and district of Oran. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at Oran Hospital. Additionally, one person sustained burns in Tipaza province, following a fire in greenhouses used as poultry farms in the area known as Oued Harbil, in the municipality and district of Damous. The injured person received first aid at the scene and was then transferred to the local hospital.
Civil Protection services in Boumerdès province also intervened following a gas explosion in a house located in the Rahmoun neighborhood of Boudouaou municipality, Boudouaou Marine district. This explosion resulted in burns to three people, who were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital.
