Civil Protection Units intervention results between January 18 and 19, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

 

During the period from January 18 to 19, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,458 interventions, averaging one intervention every 24 seconds. These included 2,654 medical evacuations and 455 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 167 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces. These accidents resulted in 5 deaths at the scene and 189 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the province of M’Sila, with 2 deaths, following a collision between a car and a truck on National Road 45, in the municipality and district of Chlal.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to eight people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes in the provinces of Batna (4 people), Medea (2 people), and Mostaganem (2 people). The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals. Meanwhile, four people died from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in the provinces of Annaba (2 people) and Bejaia (2 people). In Annaba, a 26-year-old woman and a two-year-old child died from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from a heater in a home in the Sidi Amar village neighborhood, Sidi Amar municipality, El Hadjar district. In Bejaia, two men, both 31 years old, died from carbon monoxide poisoning. (CO) emitted from a heater inside a residence in the area known as Touririne, in the municipality and district of Ouzellaguen, resulted in the deaths of several people. Their bodies were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services of Laghouat province intervened following the rainfall, pumping out accumulated rainwater in front of the park entrance in the municipality of Laghouat. Similarly, the Civil Protection services of Bordj Bou Arreridj province intervened to remove four vehicles that were stranded due to snowfall in the area known as Kef Boujrioua on National Route 42, in the municipality of Taghlit.
