Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 19 and 25, 2026 (weekly results)
Between July 19 and 25, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 36,256 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 17,784 interventions, during which 17,340 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 2,965 incidents involving 1,693 accidents, resulting in 40 deaths and 2,082 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Djelfa province, with 4 deaths at the scene and 61 injuries in 55 accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 7,630 interventions, extinguishing 4,989 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (391 fires), Setif (258 fires), and Constantine (223 fires).
Furthermore, during the same period, our units carried out 7,877 interventions across various operations, rescuing 475 people in danger and providing 6,782 emergency medical services.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 8,593 interventions, enabling the rescue of 5,958 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 2,170 people on site. Additionally, 427 people were transferred to local health centers. Sixteen people drowned at sea, and eight drowned in other bodies of water.
Furthermore, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 992 vegetation fires, including 347 forest fires, 59 brush fires, 146 scrubland fires, 118 crop fires, 132 fruit tree fires, 142 hay bale fires, and 48 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
