Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 26 and August 1, 2026 (weekly results)

Between July 26 and August 1, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 29,106 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 16,230 interventions, during which 15,768 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 2,814 interventions for 1,553 traffic accidents, resulting in 74 deaths and 1,951 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in Boumerdès Province, with 28 deaths at the scene and 54 injuries in 40 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 3,890 interventions, extinguishing 2,730 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers Province (292 fires), Batna Province (128 fires), and Blida Province (101 fires).
In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 6,172 interventions across various operations, rescuing 390 people in danger and providing 5,320 emergency medical services.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the same period, it carried out 8,875 interventions, enabling the rescue of 6,354 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 2,112 people on site. Additionally, 388 people were transferred to local health centers. Nineteen people drowned at sea, and three drowned in other bodies of water.
Furthermore, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 309 vegetation fires, including 79 forest fires, 16 brush fires, 36 scrubland fires, 24 crop fires, 56 fruit tree fires, 70 hay bale fires, and 28 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
