Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 5 and 6, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

Between July 5th and 6th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,392 interventions, averaging one intervention every 19 seconds. These included 1,830 medical evacuations and 592 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 163 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 3 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 179 others, ranging in severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Algiers and Annaba, with no casualties reported. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Furthermore, the Civil Protection services in Algiers province responded to the death of a 70-year-old man from carbon monoxide (CO) gas leaking from a water heater inside a house on Rue Harhar Abdelrazak, in the municipality and district of Bab El Oued. The victim’s body was transported to the morgue at Lamine Debaghine Hospital.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 830 interventions, which resulted in the rescue of 635 people from imminent drowning, as well as the provision of first aid to 155 people on site. Additionally, 37 people were transferred to local health centers. Two drowning deaths were recorded in the sea in the province of Bejaia. The first case involved a 19-year-old man who drowned at Tichy Beach (a supervised beach – outside of lifeguard hours), in the municipality and district of Tichy. The second case involved a 21-year-old man who drowned in the sea (a prohibited swimming area – rocky area), in the municipality of Beni Ksila, district of Adkar. Both victims were transferred to the morgues of local hospitals.
It should be noted that a 16-year-old boy drowned in a water reservoir in the area known as El Majen Lekhal, in the municipality of Korouma, El Akhdaria district, Bouira province. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.
Furthermore, during the same period, the Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened to extinguish 65 vegetation fires, including: 3 forest fires, 2 brush fires, 2 scrubland fires, 18 crop fires, 10 fruit tree fires, 25 hay bale fires, and 5 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. The rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
