Civil Protection Units intervention results between July 8 and 9, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

    During the period from July 8th to 9th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,383 interventions (an average of one intervention every 19 seconds), including 2,016 medical evacuations and 718 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to various calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 239 interventions following numerous accidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 7 deaths at the scene and injuries to 274 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Illizi, where 1 person died and 7 others sustained various injuries when a car veered off the road and overturned on Provincial Road No. 2, within the municipality and district of Illizi.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they conducted 717 interventions, rescuing 474 people from drowning and providing first aid to 206 individuals at the scene. Additionally, 37 people were transferred to local health centers. No drowning deaths were recorded at sea.

Similarly, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 99 vegetation fires, including: 5 forest fires, 4 bush fires, 15 scrubland fires, 37 crop fires, 13 fruit tree fires, 23 hay bale fires, and 2 palm tree fires, across several provinces of the country. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
