Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 11 and 13, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)

  

    Between June 11 and 13, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 6,954 interventions, averaging one intervention every 24 seconds. These included 3,592 medical evacuations and 956 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 437 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 13 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 518 others, ranging in severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, the Civil Protection intervened to extinguish four urban and other fires in the provinces of Mostaganem (one fire), Relizane (one fire), Bejaia (one fire), and M’Sila (one fire). These fires resulted in five people suffering from respiratory distress following a fire in the basement of a four-story residential building in the municipality and district of Mostaganem. Additionally, three people were treated for shock following a fire in an apartment in a five-story residential building in the 215-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Aokas, Bejaia province. Furthermore, five people sustained burns of varying degrees in a fire that broke out in a ground-floor dwelling in the municipality of Sidi Lazreg and the district of Mendes. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 48 hours, they carried out 918 interventions, which allowed for the rescue of 704 people from imminent drowning, as well as providing first aid to 166 people on site, in addition to transferring 44 people to local health centers. Four drowning deaths were recorded in the provinces of Ain Temouchent, Jijel, and Oran. In Ain Temouchent province, two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, drowned in a rocky area on the eastern side of the beach called El Bir (swimming is prohibited). In the municipality and district of Beni Saf, Jijel province, a 23-year-old man drowned in a rocky area on the beach of El Ouidane (swimming is prohibited). In the municipality and district of Kheir Oued Adjoul, and the district of El Ansar, Oran province, a 23-year-old man drowned at the beach called Ain In Franin, (swimming permitted – red flag), in the municipality and district of Bir El Djir, the bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgue of local hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.

Franin It should be noted that three drowning deaths were recorded in water reservoirs in the provinces of Laghouat and Jijel. In Laghouat province, two drownings occurred: the first involved a 16-year-old boy who drowned and was recovered from an irrigation basin in the area known as El Kef El Abyad, in the municipality of El Hadj Mechri, in the district of Brida; the second involved a 30-year-old man who drowned and was recovered from a pond in the area known as Seklafa, in the municipality of Oued Mzi, in the district of Oued Mra. In Jijel province, a 37-year-old man drowned and was recovered from an irrigation basin in the area known as Tamila, in the municipality of Taher, in the district of Emir Abdelkader. The bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgues of the local hospitals.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Crops Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 68 fires of vegetation cover, including: 3 dry grass fires, 42 agricultural crop fires, 3 fruit tree fires, 8 hay bale fires and 12 palm tree fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation cover.
