Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 15 and 16, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from June 15 to 16, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,119 interventions (an average of one intervention every 27 seconds), including 1,904 medical evacuations and 570 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 189 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of four people at the scene and injuries to 235 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in El Bayadh province, where two people died and one was injured in a collision between a car and a truck on National Road 118 in the municipality of El Benoud, El Abiodh Sidi Cheikh district.
Furthermore, Civil Protection services in Skikda province responded to a partial collapse of a staircase between the ground and first floors of a two-story building on National Liberation Army Street in Skikda municipality and district. Two people sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene before being transported to the local hospital. Four people trapped inside the building were also rescued and are in good health.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 24 hours, they carried out 152 interventions, rescuing 93 people from drowning and providing first aid to 54 people on site. Additionally, 4 people were transferred to local health centers. Two people drowned at a beach designated for swimming outside of the service’s operating hours (a red flag beach) in the province of Bejaia. The victims were two teenagers, aged 18 and 17, who drowned at Oued Teblout beach in the municipality of Aokas. Their bodies were recovered by Civil Protection divers and transported to the local hospital.
The Forestry and Agricultural Firefighting Service also intervened during the same period to extinguish 29 vegetation fires, including: 1 forest fire, 13 agricultural fires, 1 fruit tree fire, 9 hay bale fires, and 5 palm tree fires, across several provinces nationwide. It is worth noting that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to other vegetation.
Regarding the weather fluctuations experienced in the provinces of Constantine, Tebessa, and Souk Ahras during the same period, our services carried out 16 operations to pump out rainwater that had seeped into homes. These operations covered 10 homes in the municipality of Souk Ahras, 4 homes in the municipality of Ain Abid in the province of Constantine, and 2 homes in the municipality of Ouzera in the province of Tebessa. No losses were reported.
