Civil Protection Units intervention results between June 9 and 10, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from June 9th to 10th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,615 interventions, averaging one intervention every 23 seconds. These included 2,093 medical evacuations and 538 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 194 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 6 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 246 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
For the record, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Algiers, Annaba, and Ouled Djellal, without any casualties. Our emergency response teams were able to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
Furthermore, Civil Protection units in the province of Djelfa intervened following the explosion of a butane gas cylinder inside a ground-floor residence in the area known as the Heavy Vehicle Bypass, in the municipality and district of Ain Oussera. This explosion resulted in injuries to one person, who sustained burns of varying severity. The victim received on-site treatment and was then transported by our services to the local hospital.
Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service over the past 24 hours, they carried out 170 interventions, rescuing 112 people from drowning and providing first aid to 50 people at the scene. Additionally, 8 people were transferred to local health centers. No drowning deaths were recorded at the beaches during the same period.
For your information, two drowning deaths were recorded in water reservoirs, one each in the provinces of Ain Defla and Tamanrasset. In Ain Defla province, a 17-year-old drowned and was recovered from a water reservoir in the area known as Ben Brik Farm, in the municipality of Bir Ould Khelifa and the district of Bordj Emir Khaled. In Tamanrasset province, a 16-year-old drowned and was recovered from a water basin in a wadi (riverbed) in the municipality and district of Tamanrasset. The victims were transferred to the nearest health facilities.
Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 28 fires of vegetation, including: 1 forest fire, 19 agricultural fires, 1 fruit tree fire, 5 hay bale fires and 2 palm tree fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
