Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 18 and 19, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from March 18 to 19, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,438 interventions (an average of one intervention every 35 seconds), including 1,692 medical evacuations and 359 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 203 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 3 fatalities at the scene and 239 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents occurred in the following provinces: Adrar Province: 1 death and 4 injuries following a car veering off the road and overturning on the Aouf-Adrar road, Aouf municipality and district; Algiers Province: 1 death and 1 injury from shock following a collision between a car and a truck on the Bab El Sharq-El Hamiz road, Dar El Beida municipality and district; and Batna Province: 1 death following a truck veering off the road and overturning on Provincial Road No. 40, Lemsane municipality, Ouled Si Slimane district.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 28 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes in the following provinces: El Bayadh (7 people), M’Sila (5 people), Annaba (4 people), Laghouat (3 people), Relizane (2 people), Naâma (2 people), Médéa (2 people), Tlemcen (2 people), and Bouira (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local health centers. Meanwhile, a 61-year-old man died from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from a cooking stove (tabouna) in his home in the “Fellahia Village” area of Beni Aziz municipality and district in Setif province. His body was transferred to the morgue at Beni Aziz Hospital.
For your information, the Civil Protection services of the state of Bouira intervened following a fire in electrical meters on the ground floor of a building consisting of (T + 05) in the 500 housing complex, municipality and district of Sour Ghozlane, where the fire resulted in (02) people suffering from shock, as the victims were taken care of at the scene and transferred to the local hospital. Our services’ intervention enabled us to extinguish this fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the building.
