Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 23 and 24, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

 

Between March 23 and 24, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,702 interventions (an average of one intervention every 31 seconds), including 1,967 medical evacuations and 339 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 239 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 7 fatalities at the scene and 271 injuries of varying severity. The victims received initial treatment at the scene and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Tebessa province, where 2 people died and 2 others sustained injuries in a collision between two vehicles on National Route 16 in the municipality and district of Morsott.

Civil Protection units also provided first aid to 15 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. These incidents occurred in M’Sila province (8 people), Medea province (6 people), and Ain Temouchent province (1 person). The victims received initial treatment at the scene and were then transported to local hospitals.

Additionally, the Civil Protection services of Oum El Bouaghi province intervened following a gas leak explosion in a ground-floor residence in Ouled Nasser, El Amria municipality, Sigus district, with no reported casualties.

As a reminder, the Civil Protection services of Oran province also intervened following the collapse of an exterior wall of a ground-floor residence on Bouamama Ali Street, Oran municipality and district. This incident resulted in injuries to five people, who were treated at the scene and then transported to the local hospital.
