Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 25 and 26, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

 

    

During the period from March 25 to 26, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,032 interventions (an average of one intervention every 28 seconds), including 1,963 medical evacuations and 457 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 200 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 3 people at the scene and injuries to 207 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents occurred in the provinces of Annaba, Tizi Ouzou, and Tlemcen. In Annaba, one person died when a car veered off the road and overturned on the road in the Seybous neighborhood, in the municipality and district of Annaba. In Tizi Ouzou, one person died after being struck by a car on Said Amirouche Street, in the municipality and district of Tizi Ouzou. In Tlemcen, one person died when a car veered off the road and crashed into a tree on National Route 7, in the municipality and district of Maghnia.

Civil Protection services in Medea intervened to provide first aid to two people suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning (CO) inside their home. They were treated at the scene and then transferred to the local hospital. It should be noted that one person died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a faulty stove inside their family home in the 250-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Cheraga. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at the local hospital.

For your information, the Civil Protection intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Boumerdès, Bouira, and Bordj Bou Arreridj. These fires resulted in one person sustaining third-degree burns following a fire in an apartment on the ground floor of a two-story building (floor + 1) in the 17 October neighborhood, Lakhdaria municipality and district, Bouira province. Additionally, three people suffered from respiratory distress following a fire in an apartment on the eighth floor of a nine-story building in the Dekkiche residence, Boumerdès municipality and district. Furthermore, three other people suffered from respiratory distress following a fire in shops within a one-story building used for storing spare parts and refrigeration equipment, El Hamadia municipality and district, Bordj Bou Arreridj province. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals. Our emergency services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to other areas. Nearby areas.
