During the period from March 29 to 30, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,835 interventions (an average of one intervention every 30 seconds), including 1,804 medical evacuations and 549 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, security operations, and weather-related incidents.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 216 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 5 deaths at the scene and injuries to 251 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to eight people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The incidents occurred in Mila (5 people), Tipaza (2 people), and Constantine (1 person). The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported to local hospitals.

Civil Protection also responded to five separate urban fires in Algiers (2 fires), Blida (1 fire), Oum El Bouaghi (1 fire), and Oran (1 fire). No casualties were reported. Our services successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Civil Protection services during the last 24 hours related to the weather fluctuations witnessed in several provinces, including: Algiers, Tipaza, Blida, Boumerdes, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Tissemsilt, Batna, Djelfa and Laghouat, our services also carried out several operations to pump out rainwater that had seeped into homes in the municipality of Bordj Menaïel in the province of Boumerdes and the municipality of Ain Tagouraït in the province of Tipaza. Our services also extracted a bus stuck due to snow accumulation with 11 people on board on National Road No. 1 in the Ben Hamed area, the municipality of Taadmit, in the province of Djelfa. In addition, a truck that was stuck due to the high level of rainwater was extracted on the provincial road linking Koléa to Ben Hamdane, the municipality of Oued El Alleug in the province of Blida. It should be noted that several interventions were carried out following the fall of electricity poles and tree branches in several neighborhoods in the municipalities of Bourouba, Bouzareah, El Achour, Cheraga, Bologhine and Zeralda in the province of Algiers, without any human losses being recorded. It should be noted that several roads located in the high mountain peaks are difficult to traverse or are cut off from travel due to snow accumulation between the states of Bouira and Tizi Ouzou.
