Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 4 and March 5, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)
During the period from March 4th to 5th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,140 interventions (an average of one intervention every 27 seconds), including 2,192 medical evacuations and 537 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, the Civil Protection units carried out 213 interventions following numerous accidents recorded across several provinces of the country, resulting in the death of 11 people at the scene and injuries to 269 others of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and transferred by our services to local hospitals. The most deadly accidents were recorded in the following provinces: Touggourt: 5 deaths and 15 injuries, following a collision between a truck and a passenger bus on National Road No. 3, Tamacine municipality and district; M’Sila: 1 death and 3 injuries, following a chain collision between 3 trucks on National Road No. 46, Ben Srour municipality and district; Annaba: 1 death after being run over by a passenger bus in the 8 May 1945 neighborhood, Annaba municipality and district; Mascara: 1 death after being run over by a train in the Douar Ouled Arabiya area, El Ghomri municipality, Mohammadia district. Khenchela Province: One person died after being struck by a car on National Route 88, in the municipality and district of El Hamma. Tiaret Province: One person died after being struck by a car on National Route 40, in the municipality of Rchaïguia and the district of Hammadia. Blida Province: One person died following a collision between a car and a motorcycle on the Sidi Moussa road, in the municipality and district of Larbaa.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, our services have responded to 2,391 traffic accidents, resulting in 81 deaths and 2,839 injuries.
Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to eight people suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning (CO) from heating appliances in the provinces of Relizane (3 people), Naâma (3 people), and Sétif (2 people). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local hospitals.
