Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 3 and March 4, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from March 3rd to 4th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,805 interventions (an average of one intervention every 30 seconds), including 1,929 medical evacuations and 418 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
(Until 8:00 AM) In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 207 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 8 fatalities at the scene and 243 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the provinces of Tipaza, Relizane, and Sidi Bel Abbès. In Tipaza province, 1 person died and 2 others were injured in a collision involving three vehicles on the Tipaza-Bousmail highway, in the municipality and district of Tipaza. In Relizane province, 1 person died and 2 others were injured when a vehicle veered off the road on National Route 4, in the municipality and district of Djidiouia. In Sidi Bel Abbès province, 1 person died and 2 others were injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle on National Route 109, in the municipality and district of El Marhoum.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to three people suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning (CO) from heating appliances. Two of the victims were in Blida province, and one was in Mila province. They received on-site treatment and were then transported to local hospitals.
Our services also responded to three separate urban fires in Algiers, Mila, and Chlef provinces. These fires resulted in nine people suffering from respiratory distress after a fire broke out in a first-floor apartment of a five-story building in the 200-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Ferdjioua, Mila province. Additionally, two people suffered from respiratory distress and one person was in shock after a fire broke out in a third-floor apartment of a three-story building in the El Limoun neighborhood of Chlef municipality and district. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported to local health facilities. Our rescue efforts enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to other neighboring areas.
