Weekly toll of civil protection units intervention between February 22 and 28, 2026 (weekly toll)

Between February 22nd and 28th, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 22,243 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 14,171 interventions, during which 14,010 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 2,168 interventions for 1,263 traffic accidents, resulting in 37 deaths and 1,760 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in Adrar province, with 5 deaths at the scene and 8 injuries in 8 separate traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 883 interventions, extinguishing 577 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (79 fires), Blida (39 fires), and Biskra (28 fires).
In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 5,021 interventions across various operations, rescuing 443 people in danger and providing 4,433 emergency medical services.
Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 12 interventions during the same period, providing first aid to 30 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO), who were then transferred to hospitals, with the death of 1 person poisoned by carbon monoxide in the state of Bordj Bou Arreridj.
