Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 1 and March 2, 2026 (during the last 24 hours)

Between March 1st and 2nd, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,862 interventions (an average of one intervention every 30 seconds), including 2,111 medical evacuations and 409 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 177 incidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of three people at the scene and injuries to 209 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents occurred in Tindouf Province: two people died and four others were injured in a collision between two vehicles on National Route 50, in the municipality of Oum El Assel, Tindouf District. In Tizi Ouzou Province, a child was killed after being struck by a car in the city center of Freha Municipality, Azazga District.

Civil Protection services in Annaba Province also intervened to provide first aid to three people suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning due to a faulty water heater in their home in the city center of El Bouni Municipality. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported in stable condition to the local health center.

For your information, the Civil Protection services of the state of Setif intervened to extinguish a fire at the plastic factory located in the industrial zone of Mchta Leferda, Bazer El Sekra municipality and El Eulma district, without any human casualties being recorded. 17 intervention teams were deployed, including: 12 fire trucks, 4 ambulances and 1 lighting vehicle. Our emergency services’ intervention enabled us to control this fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the factory.
