Civil Protection Units intervention results between March 5 and March 7, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)
Between March 5th and 7th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,998 interventions (an average of one intervention every 34 seconds), including 3,196 medical evacuations and 873 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 364 incidents across several provinces nationwide. These accidents resulted in 19 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 492 others, ranging in severity. The victims received initial treatment at the scene and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Laghouat province, where two people died and one was injured in a collision between a car and a truck on Provincial Road 133 in the municipality of Hassi Delaa, Hassi R’mel district. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to local hospitals.
Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to 27 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning caused by faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces. These victims received initial treatment at the scene and were then transported in stable condition to local hospitals. For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish five urban fires in the provinces of Algiers (1 fire), El Tarf (1 fire), Constantine (1 fire), and Tizi Ouzou (2 fires). These fires resulted in minor burns and injuries to three people. The first fire, which broke out in two prefabricated buildings in the Zoubir complex in the municipality of Ait Chafaa, Tizi Ouzou province, involved a fire in two prefabricated buildings. First aid was administered at the scene, and the injured were then transferred to Azefoun Hospital. Our emergency services successfully contained the fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.
Regarding the interventions of the Civil Protection services related to the weather fluctuations of rainfall during the last 48 hours that affected the provinces of Chlef, Ouled Djellal, and M’Sila, in the province of Chlef, our services rescued a person who was stuck in the middle of Wadi Yarmoul in the place called Yarmoul, El Abiodh Medjadja municipality. In the province of Ouled Djellal, our services extracted a car that was stuck next to the municipal road No. 45 near the course of Wadi Djedi, Ouled Djellal municipality, with 4 people on board who were in a state of shock. In addition, our services carried out operations to pump out rainwater that had seeped into some houses and roads in both the province of Chlef and M’Sila without recording any human losses.
