Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 14 and 16, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)

Between May 14 and 16, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 5,543 interventions (an average of one intervention every 31 seconds), including 3,696 medical evacuations and 881 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 350 interventions following numerous accidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 6 people at the scene and injuries to 421 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in the provinces of Ain Defla and Bechar, with 4 deaths and 2 injuries. In Ain Defla province, 2 people died and 1 was injured when a car veered off a bridge and overturned into a ravine in the area known as Wadi Chelif, on Provincial Road 156 in the area known as Ouled Bouziane, in the municipality and district of Djellida. Similarly, in Bechar province, 2 people died and 1 was injured when a motorcycle veered off the road in the city center of the municipality of Kenadsa.
For your information, the Civil Protection services of Skikda intervened to extinguish a fire in a first-floor apartment of a two-story building (ground floor + 2 floors) located in the Wadi Atta neighborhood, Hammadi Krouma municipality, Skikda district. No casualties were reported. Our emergency services successfully contained the fire and prevented its spread to neighboring buildings.
Furthermore, the Civil Protection services of Biskra province intervened to recover the body of an 11-year-old child who drowned in a swimming pool at a house in the Farfar neighborhood, Tolga municipality and district. The victim’s body was transported to Tolga Hospital.
Additionally, Civil Protection personnel from Algiers province rescued two people stranded at sea. They were aboard a pleasure boat near the Bountah rocks, Reghaia municipality, Rouiba district. The victims received on-site medical attention and first aid.
