Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 13 and 14, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

  During the period from May 13 to 14, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,048 interventions (an average of one intervention every 28 seconds), including 2,091 medical evacuations and 510 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 187 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 6 fatalities at the scene and 208 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in Constantine province, where 1 person died and 5 others sustained injuries in a collision between two vehicles on National Route 5, within the municipality and district of Constantine.

It should be noted that Civil Protection services also intervened to extinguish 3 urban fires in the provinces of Boumerdès, Bouira, and In Guezzam. No casualties were reported. Our emergency response teams successfully contained these fires and prevented their spread to neighboring areas.

Two drowning deaths were recorded in the provinces of Oran and Ain Defla. In Oran, a 29-year-old man drowned in the sea in the rocky area near Dehliz beach, in the municipality and district of Quedil. In Ain Defla, a 15-year-old boy drowned in the Arib Dam, in the municipality of Oued Cherfa, district of Djendel. The victims were recovered by Civil Protection divers and transported to the morgues of local hospitals.

In addition, Civil Protection units in Algiers intervened following the collapse of the staircase of an old residential building (two floors plus five) on Rue des Frères Zoubir, in the municipality of Bab El Oued, district of Casbah. Six families, comprising 19 individuals, were rescued in good health after being trapped inside the building.
