Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 16 and 17, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

  

  Between May 16 and 17, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,571 interventions (an average of one intervention every 32 seconds), including 1,718 medical evacuations and 322 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 188 interventions following numerous accidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 3 people at the scene and injuries to 207 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents occurred in the provinces of Tipaza, Mostaganem, and Djelfa, with 3 deaths and 1 person suffering from shock. In Tipaza province, 1 person died and 1 person suffered from shock following a collision between a car and a motorcycle on National Road 42, in the municipality of Hammam Righa, Tipaza district. In Mostaganem province, 1 person died when a car veered off the road and crashed into a tree on National Road 11, in the municipality of Khadra, Achaacha district. In Djelfa province, 1 person died when a tractor veered off the road in the area known as El Kharj, in the municipality of Ain Righa. Afqa, Had Sahari District.

In addition, the Civil Protection Unit of Jijel Province intervened to recover the body of a 30-year-old man who drowned in the sea in a rocky area near the Gulf Beach, Jijel Municipality and District. The victim’s body was transferred to the local hospital.

Furthermore, Civil Protection Unit personnel of Constantine Province intervened following the collapse of the facade of an old building consisting of two floors (ground floor + 2 floors), in the Rahmani Achour area, Constantine Municipality and District. Three women were found to be in a state of shock. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred by our services to the local hospital.
