Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 24 and 25, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)
During the period from May 24 to 25, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 3,420 interventions (an average of one intervention every 25 seconds), including 2,151 medical evacuations and 531 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 257 incidents across various provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 8 fatalities at the scene and 296 injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Bordj Bou Arreridj, where 1 person died and 3 others sustained various injuries following a chain-reaction collision between two vehicles on the East-West Highway in the municipality and district of Mansoura.
In addition, Civil Protection services in the province of Bordj Badji Mokhtar responded to a fire in a room of a ground-floor house in the 825-unit housing complex in the municipality and district of Bordj Badji Mokhtar. The fire resulted in the deaths of 5 members of the same family, whose bodies were taken to the morgue of the local hospital. Three other individuals sustained burns of varying severity and received first aid at the scene before being transported by our services to the same hospital.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services of the state of Tamanrasset intervened to recover the body of a 16-year-old teenager who died inside a water pool, in the place called Birkat Lahdab, in the municipality of Idles and the district of Tazrouk. The victim was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.
