Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 26 and 28, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)

Between May 26 and 28, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 5,040 interventions, averaging one intervention every 34 seconds. These included 3,368 medical evacuations and 762 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 473 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 19 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 581 others, ranging in severity. The injured were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.
On the eve of Eid al-Adha, May 26-27, 2026, 15 people died and 315 were injured.
On the first day of Eid al-Adha, May 27-28, 2026, 4 people died and 266 were injured.
The highest toll was recorded in the province of Illizi, with 3 deaths, 5 injuries, and 6 people in shock. In the province of Sidi Bel Abbès, 2 people died and 5 were injured in a collision between two vehicles on National Road 101 in the municipality of Ain Kada. Two deaths were also recorded in the provinces of Djanet, Skikda, and Tamanrasset, each due to fatal traffic accidents.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services in the province of El Bayadh intervened to provide first aid to 3 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO) gas emitted from a water heater in a residence located in the Hammadi Mohamed neighborhood of the municipality. In El Bayadh, the victims were treated at the scene and transferred to the local hospital in stable condition.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish five urban, industrial, and other fires in the provinces of Setif, Ain Defla, M’Sila, Tamanrasset, Blida, and Constantine. These fires resulted in five people suffering from shortness of breath due to smoke inhalation, and four others experiencing shock. Necessary first aid was administered to the victims at the scene, and they were then transported to hospitals. The rapid intervention of our emergency services enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
