Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 28 and 30, 2026 (in the last 48 hours)

Between May 28 and 30, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 4,990 interventions, averaging one intervention every 34 seconds. These included 3,412 medical evacuations and 699 other operations across several provinces nationwide, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 515 incidents across the country, resulting in 13 fatalities and 711 injuries of varying severity. Victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Tebessa province, with 4 deaths and 3 injuries in 3 separate traffic accidents.
It should be noted that the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish four separate urban fires in the provinces of Chlef (2 fires), Bordj Bou Arreridj (1 fire), and Mostaganem (1 fire). These fires resulted in six people suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in an electrical meter box on the ground floor of a six-story residential building in the Ben Souna neighborhood of Chlef. Additionally, two people sustained injuries in a fire that broke out in a food shop located on Boussadia Street in Bordj Bou Arreridj. The victims received necessary first aid at the scene and were then transported to hospitals. The rapid intervention of our emergency services enabled them to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
In addition to the intervention of the Civil Protection services in Bouira province to recover the body of a 20-year-old man who drowned in a pond in the area known as Ouled Youssef, in the municipality of Bouderbala, Lakhdaria district, the victim’s body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.
Following the severe weather that affected the provinces of Illizi and Djanet during the same period, Civil Protection units carried out several rescue operations for people in dangerous situations and pumped out rainwater that had seeped into some homes. A partial erosion of the road’s edge was also recorded. In Illizi province: a family of four was evacuated from their home as a precautionary measure due to the rising water level of the Illizi River in the area known as Tinmeri Nursery. No casualties were reported. A car stuck on National Route 3 towards Djanet due to the rising water level of the Illizi River was recovered. The car had five occupants who were in good condition. A partial erosion of the edge of National Route 3, 15 km from Illizi towards Djanet, occurred due to the rising water level of the Illizi River in the municipality of Illizi. In In Amenas municipality: nine people were rescued from four vehicles due to the rising water level of the Illizi River.
