Civil Protection Units intervention results between May 9 and 10, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

During the period from May 9th to 10th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,813 interventions (an average of one intervention every 30 seconds), including 1,872 medical evacuations and 453 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
Civil Protection units responded to a wide range of calls for assistance from citizens across several provinces of the country. In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 142 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the immediate death of 5 people and injuries to 186 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site medical attention and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Bordj Bou Arreridj, where 2 people died and 1 was injured in a collision between a car and a truck on the East-West Highway, in the area known as Hammam El Biban, in the municipality and district of Mansoura.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to four people suffering from the onset of asphyxiation due to inhaling carbon monoxide (CO) gas emitted from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. Three of these individuals were in Constantine Province and one in Mila Province. The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred in stable condition to local health centers. It should be noted that one person died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a cooking stove in a residence located in the 3200 neighborhood of Wadi Ghir municipality, Bejaia Province. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.
Civil Protection officers in Algiers intervened following a boiler explosion on the ground floor of a four-story building on Ait Amklit Street, Casbah municipality, Bab El Oued district. The incident resulted in injuries to three people, including one with burns. The victims received first aid at the scene and were then transferred to Bab El Oued Hospital and Zeralda Hospital.
In addition, Civil Protection officers in Annaba intervened to recover the body of a 16-year-old boy from a water reservoir in Ain El Said, Ain El Barda municipality and district. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at the local hospital.
