Civil Protection Units’ intervention results between October 14 and 15, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

Between October 14 and October 15, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,564 interventions—averaging one intervention every 24 seconds—following distress calls from citizens across various provinces. These operations spanned the full range of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, household incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and other emergency security measures.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units conducted 200 interventions across several provinces. These incidents resulted in 3 fatalities at the scenes and left 212 individuals with injuries of varying severity. The victims received on-site care before being transported by our teams to local hospitals. The most serious incidents occurred in the provinces of Oran, Blida, and Tiaret: in Oran, one person died after being struck by a vehicle on Provincial Road 84 (Ain El Turck municipality and district); in Blida, one person died following a collision between a truck and a motorcycle on the East-West Highway (Blida municipality and district); and in Tiaret, one person died following a collision between an agricultural tractor and a motorcycle on National Road 40 (Mahdia municipality and district). Civil Protection personnel intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Blida, Annaba, and El Tarf. In one incident—a fire involving two vehicles inside a garage within a building on Rabah Terghiout Street, in the municipality and district of Ouled Slama (Blida Province)—one person suffered respiratory distress, and another sustained various injuries. The victims received initial care on-site before being transported to a local hospital. Our teams successfully brought the fires under control, preventing them from spreading to adjacent areas. During the same period, units tasked with combating forest and agricultural fires also intervened to extinguish nine vegetation fires across various provinces, including one brush fire, four fires involving fruit-bearing trees, three fires in hay bales, and one fire involving palm trees. The rapid and effective response of our services ensured these fires were extinguished and prevented them from spreading further.

Regarding the thunderstorms in the province of Beni Abbes, our teams carried out several operations to drain rainwater that had seeped into homes. In the municipality of El Ouata, a family of six was preventively evacuated following the partial collapse of walls in two residences. Additionally, an operation was conducted to drain rainwater from a house in the municipality of Ouled Khoudir.
