Between October 7 and 8, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,513 interventions—averaging one every 24 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 172 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in four fatalities at the scene and left 211 others with injuries of varying severity; victims received on-site care and were subsequently transported by our teams to local hospitals.
Civil Protection personnel also intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Béjaïa and Annaba. No casualties were reported, and the rapid response of our teams successfully brought the fires under control, preventing them from spreading to adjacent areas. During the same period, forest and crop firefighting units intervened to extinguish 18 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included one scrub fire, seven brush fires, one fruit tree fire, seven hay bale fires, and two palm tree fires. Notably, the rapid and effective response by our teams succeeded in extinguishing these fires and preventing them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
