Civil Protection Units’ intervention results between September 30 and October 1, 2026 (within the last 24 hours)

Between September 30 and October 1, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,478 interventions—averaging one every 25 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to numerous incidents across the country, conducting 200 interventions. These accidents resulted in five fatalities at the scene and injuries to 223 others, with varying degrees of severity; victims received on-site care and were subsequently transported by our teams to local hospitals.

Notably, Civil Protection units in Mascara Province intervened to extinguish a fire that broke out in a fourth-floor apartment of a seven-story building (ground floor plus six upper floors) in the “400-Housing Unit” district of Mohammadia (municipality and district). The fire caused first-degree burns to one person and respiratory distress to five others; the victims received on-site care and were transported to the local hospital. The intervention successfully extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjacent areas. Civil Protection personnel in Bordj Bou Arreridj Province also responded to the collapse of a staircase at a house under construction in the “Wad Sayyad” area (Majana Municipality and District). The incident resulted in one fatality; the victim’s body was transported to the local hospital’s morgue.

Regarding beach and recreational area operations over the past 24 hours, Civil Protection lifeguards conducted an intervention to recover the body of a 23-year-old man who had drowned at “Rizi Omar” beach (Annaba Municipality and District). The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at Ibn Rochd Hospital.

Additionally, during the same period, forest and crop fire suppression teams responded to 25 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included 3 forest fires, 10 brush fires, 6 fruit tree fires, 4 hay bale fires, and 2 palm tree fires. The rapid and effective intervention of our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation. Regarding the heavy rainfall experienced in the country’s southern regions during the same period—specifically in the provinces of Tamanrasset and El M’Ghair—Civil Protection units intervened in Tamanrasset Province to recover the body of a 60-year-old individual; the victim had been in a vehicle swept away by floodwaters in Wadi Tingam (Ain Amguel Municipality and District), and the body was transported to the local hospital’s morgue. In El M’Ghair Province, operations were carried out to drain accumulated rainwater from an educational facility in the municipality of El M’Ghair.
