Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 6 and 12, 2026 (weekly results)

   

  Between September 6 and 12, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 24,642 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These operations spanned various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, fire suppression, and security coverage for various events.

Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 14,283 interventions, during which Civil Protection personnel provided aid to and evacuated 13,925 injured and sick individuals to hospitals.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 1,397 incidents involving 2,502 interventions. These accidents resulted in 37 fatalities and 1,851 injuries; the injured received first aid and were transported to medical facilities. The highest casualty toll was recorded in the Tizi Ouzou province, where 36 traffic accidents resulted in 10 deaths at the scene and 59 injuries.

Civil Protection units also conducted 2,512 interventions to extinguish 1,698 fires—including domestic, industrial, and other types of fires. The highest numbers of incidents were recorded in the province of Algiers (191 fires), Blida (83 fires), and Annaba (81 fires).

Additionally, during the same period, our units carried out 5,345 interventions involving miscellaneous operations, rescuing 306 people in danger and providing coverage for 4,352 emergency assistance operations. Regarding the interventions of the beach and recreation area lifeguard service during the same period, the unit carried out 3,918 interventions. These efforts resulted in rescuing 2,749 people from imminent drowning and providing on-site first aid to 1,050 individuals, while 108 people were transferred to local health centers. Tragically, 12 drowning deaths were recorded at sea, and one death occurred in a body of inland water.

Additionally, the forest and crop fire-fighting service intervened during the same period to extinguish 148 vegetation fires across various provinces nationwide. These included 13 forest fires, 10 bushfires, 32 scrub fires, 39 fruit tree fires, 41 hay bale fires, and 13 palm tree fires. Notably, the rapid and effective response by our teams succeeded in extinguishing these fires and preventing them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
