Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 8 and 9, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

   Between September 8 and 9, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,254 interventions—averaging one every 26 seconds—across various provinces in response to distress calls from citizens. These operations covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.

Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 186 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in two fatalities at the scene and injuries to 240 others, with varying degrees of severity; victims received on-site care and were transported by our teams to local hospitals.

Civil Protection units also intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of El Tarf and Tipaza. One person suffered from respiratory distress due to a fire that broke out in a container at a pharmaceutical plant in the Ben M’hidi municipality and district (El Tarf province); the victim received necessary first aid and was transported to the local health center. Our emergency teams successfully brought both fires under control and prevented them from spreading to adjacent areas. Regarding the interventions of the beach and recreation safety units over the past 24 hours, the teams carried out 421 operations. These efforts resulted in rescuing 274 people from imminent drowning, providing on-site first aid to 128 individuals, and transferring 16 people to local health centers. Tragically, two drowning deaths were recorded: one in Boumerdès Province (a 68-year-old man at the East Sahel Forest Beach, Zemmouri Municipality, Bordj Menaiel District) and one in Skikda Province (a 62-year-old man at El Marsa Beach, El Marsa Municipality, Ben Azzouz District).

Additionally, during the same period, forest and crop fire-fighting units intervened to extinguish 16 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included 2 forest fires, 2 scrub fires, 1 brush fire, 6 fruit tree fires, 3 hay bale fires, and 2 palm tree fires. The rapid and effective response of our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
