Civil Protection Units intervention results between September 9 and 10, 2026 (in the last 24 hours)

Between September 9 and 10, 2026 (up to 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units carried out 3,736 interventions—averaging one every 23 seconds—across various provinces. These operations, initiated following distress calls from citizens, covered the full spectrum of Civil Protection activities, including responses to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and general safety operations.
Regarding traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 218 incidents across the country. These accidents resulted in four fatalities at the scene and left 272 others with injuries of varying severity; victims received on-site care and were subsequently transported by our teams to local hospitals.
Civil Protection services also intervened to extinguish two fires in the provinces of Ouargla and M’Sila. One fire, involving garbage trucks in the Sakra neighborhood (Rouissat Municipality, Ouargla Province), resulted in a person suffering first-degree burns; the victim received on-site treatment before being transferred to a local health center. Our emergency teams successfully brought these fires under control and prevented them from spreading to adjacent areas. Regarding the interventions of the beach and recreational area lifeguard units over the past 24 hours, 595 operations were carried out. These efforts resulted in rescuing 430 people from imminent drowning and providing on-site first aid to 149 individuals; additionally, 16 people were transferred to local health centers, with no fatalities recorded.
During the same period, forest and crop fire-fighting units intervened to extinguish 30 vegetation fires across various provinces. These included 4 forest fires, 2 scrub fires, 8 brush fires, 6 fruit tree fires, 9 hay bale fires, and 1 palm tree fire. The rapid and effective response of our teams successfully extinguished these fires and prevented them from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
In response to heavy rainfall affecting the provinces of Boumerdès and Naâma, our units intervened to retrieve a vehicle stranded by rising floodwaters on National Road No. 6 in the municipality of Aïn Sefra, Naâma Province. Teams also intervened in Boumerdès Province after tree branches fell onto the railway tracks in the municipality of Corso; no casualties were reported.
