Results of intervention by Civil Protection units between December 28 and 29, 2025 (during the last 24 hours)

During the period from December 28 to 29, 2025 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,954 interventions, averaging one intervention every 29 seconds. These included 2,047 medical evacuations and 443 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 174 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 7 deaths at the scene and 208 injuries of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in Bouira province, with 2 deaths and 3 injuries resulting from 5 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 18 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning caused by heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The affected areas were: Medea (6 people), Oum El Bouaghi (5 people), Naama (3 people), Setif (2 people), and M’Sila (2 people). The victims were treated at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals in stable condition. It should be noted that three people (two men, aged 30 and 37, and a woman, aged 65) died in Constantine province from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a heater in a house in the 900-unit housing complex in El Khroub municipality and district. The bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgue at the local hospital.
For your information, the Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish 03 urban and different fires in the provinces of Algiers, Batna and Relizane. The death of (02) children aged 04 and 02 years was recorded, as well as (02) other people who had difficulty breathing in the province of Batna, as a result of a fire that broke out inside an apartment on the second floor of a residential building consisting of (T.A+3) located in the place called Martyr Zerguine Ali Street, Ain Touta Municipality and District. Also, the death of 01 woman aged 60 years and the injury of 02 other people with second degree burns in the province of Relizane, as a result of a fire that broke out inside a ground floor residence located in Douar El Mahada, Zemoura Municipality and District. The victims were taken care of at the scene and then transferred to local hospitals.
