Results of intervention by Civil Protection units between December 27 and 28, 2025 (during the last 24 hours)
During the period from December 27 to 28, 2025 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,746 interventions (an average of one intervention every 31 seconds), including 1,819 medical evacuations and 337 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 135 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the death of 3 people at the scene and injuries to 156 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents were recorded in the provinces of M’Sila, Tiaret, and Sidi Bel Abbès. In M’Sila province: 1 person died and 3 others were injured in a collision between a car and a truck on National Road 46, in the Al-Qas’iyat area, Ouled Slimane municipality, Ben Srour district. In Tiaret province: 1 person died and 3 others were injured when a car veered off the road and overturned on National Road 40, in the Sebaïn municipality, Mahdia district. In Sidi Bel Abbès province: 1 person died after being struck by a car on National Road 7, in the municipality of [unspecified]. Badr al-Din al-Muqrani and the Ibn Badis Circle.
Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to 15 people who suffocated as a result of inhaling carbon monoxide (CO) gas emitted from heating appliances and water heaters inside their homes in several provinces of the country. The victims were treated at the scene of the incidents and transferred in stable condition to local hospitals. It should be noted that 02 deaths were recorded as a result of inhaling carbon monoxide gas in the provinces of Laghouat and Tipaza. In the province of Laghouat: 01 woman, aged 28, died from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, emitted from a cooking stove (tabouna) inside her home located in the area called Al-Shaqiqa, municipality and district of Aflou. In the province of Tipaza: 01 man, aged 65, died from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, emitted from a water heater inside his home located in the Al-Gharbi neighborhood, municipality of Bouharoun and district of Bou Ismail. The bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgues of the local hospitals. For your information, Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish two urban fires in the provinces of Algiers and Biskra, without any casualties. Our emergency services’ intervention enabled them to control the fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.
