Results of intervention by Civil Protection units between December 30 and 31, 2025 (during the last 24 hours)

   

During the period from December 30 to 31, 2025 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,815 interventions (an average of one intervention every 30 seconds), including 1,960 medical evacuations and 389 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 154 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 5 people at the scene and injuries to 189 others, ranging in severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious incident occurred in the province of Tlemcen, where 1 person died and 6 others sustained various injuries following a collision between two vehicles on Provincial Road No. 22, in the municipality and district of Ouled Mimoun.

Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 11 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes in the provinces of Naâma (4 people), Oum El Bouaghi (2 people), Sétif (2 people), Tlemcen (2 people), and Médéa (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and transferred in stable condition to local hospitals. Four deaths were recorded in the provinces of Tébessa, Jijel, and Laghouat. In Tébessa, two people, aged 38 and 33, died from carbon monoxide poisoning from a heater in a house in the Mubarak El Mili neighborhood of El Ouenza municipality and district. In Jijel, a 70-year-old woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning from a traditional clay oven in a house in the area known as [location missing]. In Boujader, Jijel municipality and district, in the Laghouat province: A 43-year-old woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a heater inside a house in the Adl neighborhood, Aflou municipality and district. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue of the local hospital.

It should be noted that Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish four urban and other fires in the provinces of Algiers (2 fires), Sidi Bel Abbès (1 fire), and Souk Ahras (1 fire). Two people sustained burns in the Sidi Bel Abbès province, following a fire that broke out in a car inside a garage in the 18-unit housing complex, Ben Achiba Chelia municipality, Tenira district. Our emergency services intervened to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.

The Civil Protection services of Oran intervened following the collapse of the roof and floor of a room on the fourth floor of a building consisting of (T+4), in the New City neighborhood, municipality and district of Oran, which led to the death of 01 man aged 33 years and 01 girl aged 02 years. The victims were extracted from under the rubble and transferred to the local hospital. Our services deployed 08 teams to intervene, including specialized rescue teams in rugged places and the canine unit.
