During the period from January 10th to 11th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 2,638 interventions (an average of one intervention every 32 seconds), including 1,817 medical evacuations and 318 other operations, across several provinces of the country. These interventions followed distress calls from citizens and covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 142 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in the deaths of 4 people at the scene and injuries to 168 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims received on-site treatment and were then transported by our services to local hospitals. The most serious accidents were recorded in the provinces of Sidi Bel Abbès, El Oued, and Adrar. In Sidi Bel Abbès, two people died and three others were injured in two separate traffic accidents. The first accident involved the death of a 33-year-old woman and injuries to three others following a collision between a car and a truck on the East-West Highway in the municipality and district of Ain El Berd. The second accident involved the death of a 21-year-old man after his motorcycle veered off the road at the roundabout known as Dubai, also in the municipality and district of Sidi Bel Abbès. In El Oued, a 42-year-old man died when a truck overturned on National Route 16 in the municipality of In the Hassi Khalifa district of Adrar province, a 41-year-old man died and two others sustained various injuries following a collision between a car and a semi-trailer truck in the municipality and district of Reggane.
Civil Protection services also intervened to provide first aid to 22 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to faulty heating appliances and water heaters in their homes. The affected individuals were distributed as follows: Constantine (6 people), Naâma (4 people), Skikda (3 people), Chlef (2 people), Relizane (2 people), Mila (2 people), Médéa (2 people), and Sétif (1 person). The victims were treated at the scene and then transported in stable condition to local hospitals.
For your information, the Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish 05 urban and various fires in the provinces of Algiers, Blida, Tizi Ouzou, Skikda and Mila, without any human casualties. Our rescue intervention made it possible to control these fires and prevent their spread to other neighboring areas.
