Results of intervention by civil protection units between January 11 and 13, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)

  

During the period from January 11 to 13, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 5,688 interventions, averaging one intervention every 30 seconds. These included 4,218 medical evacuations and 711 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 267 interventions following numerous accidents across several provinces of the country. These accidents resulted in 4 deaths at the scene and injuries to 311 people of varying severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

Civil Protection services intervened to provide first aid to 18 people suffering from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across several provinces. The victims were treated at the scene and transferred in stable condition to local hospitals. Meanwhile, three deaths were recorded due to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in the provinces of Bordj Bou Arreridj, Tissemsilt, and Setif. Specifically, in Bordj Bou Arreridj province, one 63-year-old man died from CO poisoning caused by a stove (tabouna) in a house in the 180-unit housing complex, Bordj Bou Arreridj municipality and district. In Tissemsilt province, one 83-year-old man died from CO poisoning caused by a heater in a house in the village of Takria, Bordj Khemisti municipality and district. Setif: One person, aged 52, died from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning caused by a boiler inside a residence in the El Anasser neighborhood, Ain Arnat municipality and district. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at the local hospital.

For your information, the Civil Protection units intervened to extinguish 07 urban, industrial and various fires in the province of Algiers (1 fire), Batna (2 fires), Skikda (1 fire), Oum El Bouaghi (1 fire), M’Sila (1 fire) and Guelma (1 fire). The most important fire was recorded in the province of Skikda, following a fire that broke out inside a poultry slaughter and storage warehouse belonging to the National Office for Poultry Breeding, in the municipality of Hammadi Krouma and the district of Skikda. Significant human and material resources were mobilized, with a total of 17 intervention teams, including: 14 fire trucks, 01 mechanical ladder truck and 02 ambulances, without any human losses being recorded. Our emergency intervention made it possible to control these fires and prevent their spread to other neighboring places.
