The launch of the HUSAR.ALG pre-classification training exercise on the virtual maneuver represented by an earthquake that struck a virtual area
As part of the anticipated reclassification in 2026 and within the framework of preparations by the Algerian Urban Search and Rescue Team, a pre-classification training exercise commenced this morning. The exercise simulated an earthquake striking a hypothetical area.
The images are from the operations room after the signal was given to begin the exercise at 7:00 AM. The simulated earthquake, measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale, struck the hypothetical area of ”Icosium,” causing material and human losses.
The exercise involved personnel from the General Directorate of Civil Protection and the Urban Search and Rescue Team (HUSAR.ALG) of the National Training and Intervention Unit of the Civil Protection, under the supervision of the classification committee.
The exercise will take place across three training fields, simulating the events in the hypothetical city struck by the earthquake:
– A training field in the El Hamiz neighborhood – A training field in Dar El Beida – A training field in the municipality of Baraki. The exercise will continue until Thursday, January 15, 2026. Follow us on this page for updates on the exercises.
