Weekly report on the intervention of the Civil Protection units between December 4 and 10, 2026 (Weekly Report)
During the period from January 4 to 10, 2026, civil protection units recorded 24,089 interventions following the receipt of distress calls from citizens. These interventions included various areas of civil protection activities, whether related to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, health evacuation, fire extinguishing, or security services’ coverage of various demonstrations.
Regarding health evacuation operations, our units carried out 15,776 interventions, during which 15,440 wounded and sick people were treated and evacuated to hospitals by civil protection agents.
In the context of traffic accidents, the Civil Protection Units intervened in 2035 traffic accidents that led to the death of 25 people and the injury of 1282 others who were treated and transferred to hospitals. The heaviest toll was recorded in the state of Adrar with the death of 5 people at the scene of the accidents and the injury of 18 others as a result of 12 traffic accidents.
The Civil Protection Units also carried out 888 interventions that allowed the extinguishing of 520 fires, including domestic, industrial and various fires, the most important of which were recorded in the state of Algiers with 89 fires, Blida with 37 fires and Oran with 36 fires.
In addition, during the same period, our units in the field of various operations carried out 5,390 interventions in order to rescue 650 people in danger and cover 4,825 ambulance operations.
Regarding accidents related to carbon monoxide (Co) poisoning emitted from various heating and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 39 interventions during the same period, allowing the provision of first aid to 77 people poisoned by this dangerous gas who were transferred to hospitals, with the death of 07 people poisoned by carbon monoxide in the provinces of Bordj Bou Arreridj 02 people, Blida 02 people, Annaba 02 people and Djelfa 01 people.
