The outcome of the Civil Protection Units’ intervention between July 2 and 4, 2026 (during the last 48 hours)

During the period from July 2nd to 4th, 2026 (until 8:00 AM), Civil Protection units recorded 9,592 interventions, averaging one intervention every 18 seconds. These included 3,789 medical evacuations and 1,119 other operations, across several provinces of the country, following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and security operations.

In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 349 interventions following numerous accidents across the country. These accidents resulted in 12 fatalities at the scene and injuries to 526 others, with varying degrees of severity. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported by our services to local hospitals.

For your information, the Civil Protection services intervened to extinguish three separate urban fires in the provinces of Constantine, El Bayadh, and Algiers. These fires resulted in four people suffering from respiratory distress in Constantine, as well as a man and two children with burns in El Bayadh. Necessary first aid was administered at the scene before the injured were transferred to hospitals. Our emergency services’ intervention enabled us to control these fires and prevent their spread to neighboring areas.

Regarding the interventions of the Coast Guard and Recreation Service during the last 48 hours, 2,886 interventions were carried out, resulting in the rescue of 2,211 people from imminent drowning. First aid was also provided to 549 people on site, and 119 people were transferred to local health centers. Ten people drowned at sea, five at prohibited beaches and five at permitted beaches (outside the operating hours of the Civil Protection Service), in the following provinces: Boumerdès (2), Béjaïa (2), Tipaza (3), Annaba (1), El Tarf (1), and Aïn Témouchent (1). Additionally, one drowning death was recorded in an irrigation basin in the province of Ouled Djellal.

Likewise, the Forest and Agricultural Firefighting Service intervened during the same period to extinguish 121 fires of vegetation, including: 4 forest fires, 4 bush fires, 8 scrubland fires, 43 agricultural crop fires, 20 fruit tree fires, 35 hay bale fires and 7 palm tree fires, across several states of the national territory. It is worth mentioning that the rapid and effective intervention of our services allowed us to extinguish these fires and prevent their spread to the rest of the vegetation.
