Weekly report on the intervention of the Civil Protection units between January 18 and 24, 2026 (Weekly Report)

Between January 18 and 24, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 26,591 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 16,778 interventions, during which 16,642 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units responded to 1,882 incidents involving 1,051 accidents, resulting in 25 deaths and 1,189 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Boumerdès Province, with 4 deaths at the scene and 51 injuries in 41 accidents.
Civil Protection units also responded to 713 incidents, extinguishing 439 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers Province (64 fires), Blida Province (32 fires), and Annaba Province (27 fires).
In addition, during the same period, our units in the various operational fields carried out 7218 interventions to rescue 650 people in danger and covered 6453 ambulance operations regarding accidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning emitted from various heating appliances and water heaters. During the same period, the Civil Protection services carried out 58 interventions that allowed for the provision of first aid to 133 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO), who were then transferred to hospitals. 18 people died from carbon monoxide poisoning in the provinces of Skikda (5 people), Constantine (3 people), Djelfa (3 people), Annaba (2 people), Bejaia (2 people), Tipaza (1 person), Khenchela (1 person), and Oum El Bouaghi (1 person).
