Weekly toll of civil protection units intervention between February 1 and 7, 2026 (weekly toll)

Between February 1st and 7th, 2026, Civil Protection units recorded 27,856 interventions following distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of Civil Protection activity, including traffic accidents, domestic accidents, medical evacuations, firefighting, and providing security coverage for various events.
Regarding medical evacuations, our units carried out 16,959 interventions, during which 16,755 injured and sick individuals were treated and transported to hospitals by Civil Protection personnel.
In the context of traffic accidents, Civil Protection units carried out 1,885 interventions for 1,073 traffic accidents, resulting in 26 deaths and 1,194 injuries. The injured were treated and transported to hospitals. The highest toll was recorded in Algiers province, with 3 deaths at the scene and 105 injuries in 110 traffic accidents.
Civil Protection units also carried out 850 interventions, extinguishing 502 fires, including residential, industrial, and other types of fires. The most significant fires were recorded in Algiers province (81 fires), Blida (34 fires), and Annaba (29 fires).
In addition, during the same period, our units carried out 8,162 interventions across various operations, rescuing 675 people in danger and providing 7,067 emergency medical services.
Regarding incidents related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from various heating appliances and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 36 interventions during the same period, which allowed for the provision of first aid to 69 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO), who were then transferred to hospital institutions, with the death of 3 people poisoned by carbon monoxide in the state of Constantine (2) people and the state of Blida with the death of 1 person.
