Weekly toll of civil protection units intervention between March 22 and 28, 2026 (weekly toll)

During the period from March 22 to 28, 2026, civil protection units recorded 22,616 interventions following the receipt of distress calls from citizens. These interventions covered various areas of civil protection activities, whether related to traffic accidents, domestic incidents, health evacuation, fire extinguishing, or security services’ coverage of various demonstrations.
Regarding health evacuation operations, our units carried out 13,153 interventions, during which 12,939 wounded and sick people were treated and evacuated to hospitals by civil protection agents.
In the context of traffic accidents, the Civil Protection Units carried out 2,609 interventions for 1,473 traffic accidents that led to the death of 37 people and the injury of 1,847 others who were treated and transferred to hospitals. The heaviest toll was recorded in the state of Tamanrasset with the death of 4 people at the scene of the accidents and the injury of 28 others as a result of 14 traffic accidents.
The Civil Protection Units also carried out 864 interventions that allowed the extinguishing of 526 fires, including domestic, industrial and various fires, the most important of which were recorded in the state of Algiers with 42 fires, Adrar with 32 fires and Oran with 26 fires.
In addition, during the same period, our units in the field of various operations carried out 5,990 interventions in order to rescue 458 people in danger and cover 5,263 ambulance operations.
Regarding accidents related to carbon monoxide (Co) poisoning emitted from various heating and water heaters, the Civil Protection services carried out 20 interventions during the same period, which allowed the provision of first aid to 60 people poisoned by carbon monoxide (Co) gas, who were then transferred to hospitals, with the death of 1 person poisoned by carbon monoxide gas recorded in the state of Algiers.
