Algerian Civil Protection participates in the global meeting of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Board (INSARAG) in Brazil

The General Directorate of Civil Protection, represented by Captain Benabi Abdelbasset, participated in the activities of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) Global Meeting, along with the regional meeting for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, the meeting of leaders of urban search and rescue teams (USAR), and a working meeting, which was held in Brazil from July 4 to 10, 2026.

This important international event witnessed the discussion and adoption of a number of new decisions and mechanisms aimed at developing the global disaster intervention and response system. The following were adopted:

Updating the classification criteria for international search and rescue teams to enhance their field efficiency.

Launching the updated version of the guidance manual for relief and rescue operations.

Adopting the third generation of the digital disaster information management and coordination system (ICMS 3.0) to ensure the rapid flow of data between teams. Official accreditation of specialized flood response teams’ mechanisms

Updating the Virtual Operations Coordination Center (VOSOCC 2.0) online to enhance real-time communication between countries and organizations during emergencies.

This active participation of the Algerian Civil Protection reflects its leading position at the regional and international levels, and its ongoing commitment to keeping pace with the latest global systems and technologies in the fields of disaster response and the protection of lives and property.
