Direction Générale de la Protection Civile

Announcement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha

In anticipation of the Eid al-Adha celebrations, the General Directorate of Civil Protection urges all citizens to adhere to safety and prevention guidelines to avoid various household accidents, particularly fires and serious injuries resulting from the unsafe use of knives, cleavers, and cooking appliances, which can cause serious injuries, especially among children.
  • In this context, the Civil Protection services advise citizens to take safety precautions when sharpening knives and cleavers by wearing protective gloves and safety glasses to prevent injuries from flying metal fragments or slipping during use.
  • They also recommend not placing or leaving knives, cleavers, and sharp tools on the floor or within reach of children.
  • It is essential to check the gas regulator and the connection pipes used with cooking appliances and ensure their safety before use.
  • Touchers and cooking appliances, especially traditional clay ovens, should not be left unattended while lit, and they should be kept away from children and flammable materials. Prevent children from approaching fire sources or using lighters and matches to avoid fires and household accidents.
  • Dispose of waste and sacrificial animal remains safely by placing them in tightly sealed bags and throwing them in designated areas to protect health and the environment.
  • Avoid barbecuing in or near forests. Designate safe and specific areas for this activity to prevent forest fires.
  • For road users, the General Directorate of Civil Protection emphasizes the importance of respecting traffic safety rules by avoiding excessive speed and dangerous overtaking, maintaining a safe distance, taking sufficient rest when feeling tired or drowsy, and not driving for more than three consecutive hours without stopping.
  • In the event of any accident or fire, the General Directorate of Civil Protection urges citizens to immediately call 1021 or 14, accurately describing the nature of the incident and the address to facilitate rapid intervention.
