Caution report: Strong Winds Blowing

 

         

According to the weather bulletin issued by the National Bureau of Meteorology, strong winds will blow over the coastal areas as well as the interior regions of the country during the coming hours, with speeds ranging between 60 to 80 km per hour and reaching their peak in some areas of 120 km per hour.

 The General Directorate of Civil Protection calls for the following preventive measures and procedures to be followed to avoid domestic accidents and traffic accidents related to weather fluctuations caused by winds, represented by the following points:

Arranging and installing sensitive furniture that can be broken by wind

  • Use additional lighting for help that does not require electrical current, for example a flashlight equipped with batteries for charging
  • Protect items equipped with glass by closing windows and curtains
  • Stay away from windows, balconies, trees and power poles
  • Placing cars, animals and important equipment to shelters and garages.
  • For road users, you must reduce your speed in order to have a clear view of the road and avoid any roadblock.
  • Do not approach the sea, especially rocky areas, as well as lakes and water complexes.
  • For the building sector, cranes are protected by placing them correctly to prevent them from falling from strong winds.
  • When traveling, you must follow weather forecasts and road conditions.
  • In the case of transportation, avoid forest areas and places, reduce the car’s speed, and inform family and relatives about the departure time and place of arrival.
